POOL HEATING COSTA DEL SOL

HEAT PUMP Vs. SOLAR

Solar Heating for swimming pools sounds like a great idea as you can heat your pool for free! Right? Well, not quite. There would be some additional costs as you will need to pump the pool water through the panels during the warm hours of the day and this uses electricity.

The disdavantages of Solar Heating for swimming pools are:

– You need a large area of panels, at least 3/4 the surface area of the pool. This is a large area and it can be unsightly.

– In our climate you will only extend the season until the autumn rains come and will not raise the temperature enough again until May.

– The panels and tubes are prone to attacks by rats and other creatures who seem to enjoy nibbling at them.

A Heat Pump is also using solar energy, though indirectly, as it takes the heat from the air and can give you up to 5 Kw of heat for every Kw consumed. A Heat Pump will heat your pool all year round. It is more reliable than solar.

The disadvantage of a heat pump is that the running costs are higher but it is the only way you can heat your pool on the Costa Del Sol legally, economically and efficiently.

Calorex invented the Pool Heat Pump and are still market leaders. The new Pro-Pac range is the best pool heat pump ever made.
